* "Lyman Gilmore: an aviation pioneer that history almost forgot" (2014-07-17, theunion.com/news/local-news/lyman-gilmore-an-aviation-pioneer-that-history-almost-forgot/) [archive.ph/85uZr] [begin excerpt]: Lyman Gilmore was born in Beaver Creek, Wash., on June 11, 1874.
As a young man, his passion for flight reportedly derived from watching birds and pondering the physics that would explain their ability to sustain themselves in the air.
Gilmore's father, a farmer eking out a hardscrabble living, did not take kindly to what he considered Gilmore's impractical musings or his repeated experiments with various aircraft, including gliders.
To escape his father's derision, Gilmore moved to Red Bluff, Calif., in the early 1890s and soon after, in 1894, Gilmore attempted his first flight in a glider with a wingspan of 18 feet, which was towed by a horse.
Gilmore arrived in Grass Valley in the early 1900s, looking to put his engineering savvy to some practical use in the gold-mining industry that was still flourishing in the Sierra foothills.
It was during this time that he began corresponding with other aeronautical engineers, including the Wright Brothers and Samuel P. Langley, who unsuccessfully attempted to fly a manned aircraft off of a ship afloat in the Potomac River just two weeks before the flight at Kitty Hawk.
Gilmore wrote Langley with recommendations on how to balance his fuselage, recommendations which were summarily ignored.
In the early 1900s, Gilmore designed two large monoplanes that he would eventually construct and store in his "aerodrome" at his ranch.
The second of the planes, a large 1,600-pound aircraft with a closed-cabin fuselage, failed to take off in front of a large crowd in 1912, but some historians believe the design principles served as a template for the large passenger planes that would follow in the years to come.
Some aviation historians assert that his smaller plane could have successfully taken off in 1911 had the crankshaft not broken and had a more experienced pilot been enlisted.
In 1935, a fire consumed Gilmore's aerodrome, destroying the two planes and much of his aeronautical drawings and plans he had written, rendering it more difficult to determine the exact nature of his contributions to the dawn of aeronautical science. [end excerpt]

* "Grass Valley Attracted An Eccentric Aviator; Grass Valley also has a place in aviation history for Gilmore's field was the first commercial airfield in the United States" (2022-01, ncgold.com, print edition):
VISIONARY, INVENTOR, TELLER of tall tales, eccentric—Lyman Gilmore, Jr. was these and more. As a young man, he claimed to have flown a powered aircraft 19 months before the Wright brothers. No real proof exists, but there is no doubt he devoted his life to aero-nautical experimentation.
Born in Washington State in the mid-1870s, Gilmore came to Grass Valley in 1907 to pursue his aviation interests and build an airfield. He came because the area had foundries, machine shops and financial support was provided. Several areas were considered for his field, but he chose a spot not far from the center of Grass Valley on West Main Street. A school named for him now stands on the site.
Gilmore's field had hangers and was home to experimental aircraft—for example a small monoplane built in the early 1900s and a larger monoplane with an enclosed cabin designed much like passenger planes that would appear 25 years later. It was not considered practical only because there was no motor large enough to power it.
Unfortunately, some of Gilmore's dreams went up in smoke in 1935 when fire destroyed the hanger that housed his monoplanes, among others. He had no business sense and could not promote his ideas. He was also afraid that his inventions would be stolen, so when he applied for patents he would leave out critical aspects and be awarded very few. However, there is no question he was a visionary. The monoplane, retractable landing gear, an enclosed passenger cabin, the need for stability rather than power were all Gilmore concepts that became part of the development of modern aviation.
He certainly has his place in the history of flight.

* "Telephones Come to the Gold Rush" (2014-12-12, ncgold.com/article/851:telephones-come-to-the-gold-rush) [archive.ph/Rygxt] [begin excerpt]: Sixty miles of line were put up by the three mining companies, which then formed the Ridge Telephone Company, delivering what is believed to be the nation′s first long distance telephone service. It opened for business with connection to thirty phones. the Western Union Telegraph Company, until then the primary long distance message carrier, recognized the development for what it was, and would become. They became part of the new system, connecting North San Juan with Nevada City, and from there by telegraph with the rest of the United States.
Audrey Welselsky wrote about the "speaking telephone" in the Nevada County Historical Bulletin. She refers to a local newspaper article published in the spring of 1878 reporting considerable excitement when a telephone intended for the Blue Tent Gravel Mine was first put on display in Nevada City. "A conversation was carried on with ease between parties located at either end of the road, and the practicability of the invention was demonstrated to the satisfaction of all who witnessed its successful operation." At French Corral the telegraph office charged for calls, which patrons wrote out just as they did telegrams. A member of the office staff then placed the call, delivering the message. One of the telegraph office rules was, the line was not to be used for "idle talking" because that exhausted the batteries that powered the system. [end excerpt]

* "FOUR DEAD IN OHIO" (2022-05-04, facebook.com/alewitz/posts/10229341008887206):
On May 4, 1970, I was an eyewitness when the Ohio National Guard opened fire on our peaceful anti-war protest at Kent State University in Ohio. The attack left four dead and nine wounded. We had gathered in response to President Richard Nixon’s announcement that the US had invaded the nation of Cambodia.
Six days later Black workers rebelled in Augusta, GA, following the police torture/murder of a mentally challenged Black youth. The rebellion left six Black men dead – all were unarmed and shot in the back by police shotguns. Eighty more were wounded in the subsequent police riot. It received little coverage.
Then, on May 14, police fired a barrage of bullets into a dormitory at Jackson State in Mississippi that left two students dead, and an unknown number of others wounded.
The massacres, along with deep hatred of the war, sparked a national student strike that was to become the largest political demonstration in U.S. history.
For 52 years, the truth about the massacre at Kent has been covered up by the KSU administration and Democratic and Republican Party politicians at all levels of government.
Official commemorations at KSU are organized by Stephanie Danes Smith, a former top official of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) who helped organize the torture of civilians in Iraq. She is assisted by a coterie of posers: former SDS “radicals,” “experts” and “survivors.”
To honor the martyrs of Kent is to hit the streets and demand:
END ALL US WARS, BLOCKADES, SANCTIONS AND OCCUPATIONS!
END CAMPUS COMPLICITY WITH THE WAR MACHINE! ROTC AND CIA OFF CAMPUS!
END THE ATTACKS ON WOMEN’S REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS!

The Byelorussian SSR & SSR Ukraine were each given seats in the United Nations Assembly in preparation for the international recognition of all constituent SSR of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, to balance the state recognition of the British & French Empires, but did not achieve state recognition for the constituent SSR on insistence of the USA who countered that if such recognition were given, then it would demand state recognition for the constituent states of the United States of America. However, ten years later, the USA achieved state recognition in the United Nations Assembly for the constituent states of the Western European Union, including the British & French Empires, during a time when both empires were murdering millions relentlessly under the rubric of "containing communism" while stifling national liberation movements...

* "Heirs of Hitler’s Billionaires Need to Reckon With the Past; A Q&A with David de Jong, author of a recent book on wealthy German families with fortunes launched by industrialists complicit in the Holocaust" (2022-05-07, bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2022-05-07/heirs-of-hitler-s-billionaires-need-to-reckon-with-the-past) [archive.ph/A4PDd] [begin excerpt]:
DdJ: Likewise, the Weimar Republic was the first time there was ever a democratic republic of Germany; it, too, was politically and economically volatile. The families I write about profited heavily after World War I as speculators, leveraging hyperinflation to their advantage.
The German industrialists and financiers fell in line after Hitler seized power, because they wanted economic stability. And of course you had the draconian measures imposed on Germany by the Versailles Treaty. Hitler promised them mass rearmament, and he delivered on that promise. From 1934 onward, you had billions of Reichsmarks flowing into the coffers of industrialists and their steel and machine-production conglomerates, which then were retooled to become arms companies.
TH: You write about how twinning the industrial base and the German state started well before the Nazi era, and Foreign Minister Walther Rathenau is the main figure in that. Yet he’s Jewish and was assassinated in 1922. That’s some irony for you.
DdJ: Rathenau, not only prior to hyperinflation but during World War I, is really the leading figure of German industry, overseeing the war economy. He also oversees the leap that many of my characters make from provincial businessmen into full-fledged industrialists, moving to Berlin and capitalizing on the tragedies of the German economy from 1920 onwards.
TH: You write fascinating individual stories of the industrialists involved. I think the sexiest one to a lot of people will be the Porsche story. It seems almost as though here was a guy, Ferdinand Porsche, who had a dream about a great car, and he made a deal with the devil and then just got sucked in further and further.
DdJ: Yes.
TH: He also, of course, stole a portion of the business from a Jewish co-founder.
DdJ: Correct, 10% of the business — they pushed out Adolf Rosenberger and they erased him from company history.
Ferdinand Porsche was a man with a terrible temperament who only cared about his designs and who was willing to work with the Stalin regime, was willing to work with the French communists after the war, just as he was willing to work with the Nazi regime earlier.
I think it’s very emblematic of all the men I write about in the book. They would have thrived in the pre-World War I Kaiserreich, they would thrived in the Weimar Republic — in Nazi Germany, West Germany, a reunified Germany.
I would even argue that Ferry Porsche, Ferdinand Porsche’s son — who applied to the SS in 1938 and was admitted in 1941 — was more of a fellow traveler than an outright Nazi. After the war, he teamed up with his childhood friend, Albert Prinzing, who was a very high-ranking SS officer, and was basically a recruiter for former high-ranking SS members to join Porsche in the 1950s and 60s.
TH: These people were all in bed with the Nazis to some degree, then after the war, some were tried at Nuremberg and others “denazified” and cleared. Was justice totally arbitrary? Was it entirely cynical on the part of the Western victors because of the Soviet threat?
DdJ: It was both. The U.S. or the U.K. — forget about the French — didn’t have the bandwidth to prosecute all suspected Nazi perpetrators, let alone sympathizers. The main Nuremberg trial held by all four victors was highly substantial — a trial of the century in many ways.
But in the successor trials under American purview, they had to pick and choose the industrialists and the executives put on trial, because there was a policy decision made under President Harry Truman that there had to be a politically and economically viable West Germany as a bulwark against the Soviet Union. A decision was made to do an accelerated handover of suspected Nazi perpetrators and sympathizers back to the West Germans. Millions got off scot-free.
TH: The industrialist Friedrich Flick was convicted at Nuremberg, yet ended his life as the richest person in Germany, right?
DdJ: He was one of the five richest people in the world. There were three industrialist trials in the Nuremberg successor trials. Against Flick, against Alfred Krupp and his associates, and against the entire board of IG Farben. IG Farben was the most notorious company in the world at the time, not only the largest chemicals and pharmaceutical conglomerate, but together with Degussa, it was responsible for producing the Zyklon-B gas used in the Holocaust.
TH: Even many those found guilty had a soft landing.
DdJ: Flick was sentenced to seven years, but none of his assets were expropriated by the Americans and his sentence was commuted. Everything in the Soviet-controlled zone was expropriated, but nothing by the Americans. It was a political decision, made first under Truman and then under President Dwight D. Eisenhower, as an appeasement policy to West Germany and Chancellor Konrad Adenauer. They needed West Germany not only as a bulwark against the Soviet Union, but also as the key Western industrialized nation to fill the production gap for weapons for the Korean War.
TH: Other families like the Quandts, who now control BMW, basically got away unpunished?
DdJ: Guenther Quandt, the patriarch, was secretive; he didn’t own companies in his name. He owned a weapons business and AFA, a massive global battery company now known as Varta AG, which produces Apple’s AirPod batteries.
TH: You detail how many of the heirs of these industrialists, and the Quandts in particular, seem to want to bury that history. What started you on their trail?
DdJ: I first found this story as a reporter at Bloomberg, when I was looking into the “poorer” branch of the Quandt family, the one that’s descended from Magda Goebbels. Magda Goebbels’s first marriage was to Guenther Quandt, the second to Joseph Goebbels, Hitler’s propaganda chief.
I was struck by how the BMW Quandts, Germany’s wealthiest family, had this  supposed reckoning, commissioning an academic study in 2007, but then not showing its findings anywhere. Their corporate headquarters remains in name of their grandfather, Guenther, who committed war crimes on a massive scale, as an exploiter of mass forced and slave labor.
They have a media prize named for Herbert Quandt, their father, who saved BMW from bankruptcy in 1959 but also oversaw the designing, building and dismantling of a sub-concentration camp in Nazi-occupied Poland. He had the responsibility for battery factories in Berlin that exploited thousands of forced laborers, including hundreds of female slave laborers from concentration camps. He acquired companies seized from Jews in France and used prisoners of war at his own private estate.
In 2016, Stefan Quandt and Susanne Klatten, Germany’s wealthiest heirs and siblings, renamed the car company’s global foundation after their father — it’s now the BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt. It claims to “promote responsible leadership.” That is a complete perversion of history and a whitewash.   [end excerpt]

WHY WAS BRITAIN THE DRUG PUSHER IN CHINA
Opium and tea
CHINA would only sell their goods in exchange for silver, and as a result large amounts of silver were leaving Britain.
In order to stop this, the East India Company and other British merchants began to smuggle Indian opium into China illegally, for which they demanded payment in silver.
How did opium spread in China?
British merchants would buy tea in Canton (Guangzhou) on credit, and balance their debts by selling opium at auction in Calcutta, then transport it to the Chinese coast aboard British ships, sell it to native merchants who would sell it in China.
How did opium affect China economically?
The cost to China was enormous. The drug weakened a large percentage of the population (some estimate that 10 percent of the population regularly used opium by the late nineteenth century), and silver began to flow out of the country to pay for the opium.
The Opium War
At the beginning of the 18th century, China 🇨🇳 has emerged as the global centre for preferred commodities.
At that time, Britain and other European imperialists have amassed huge tons of Gold from African making these Europeans countries very rich and the citizens have developed strong taste for Chinese luxury goods.
By the end of the 18th Century, China had taken nearly a half of all the gold reserves the European countries have stored and more gold were moving out of Europe to China each day due to strong taste for Chinese goods by the European citizens.
The European governments realised that without having a strategy to curb the trend, China will completely collapse Europe. The Europeans decided to plant Opium in large quantities in their colonies and then introduce that in the Chinese society.
European merchants began to send opium to the Chinese Market in 1812 and in no time, the Chinese had become addicted to the European opium.
This singular act saw the Chinese giving back the gold they have collected for a period of 100 years and over from Europe to demand for the Opium in large quantities. Not only were the Europeans taken back their gold, many of the Chinese citizens began to be destroyed through the opium addiction, their production and the economy began to fall rapidly than anyone could have predicted.
When the Chinese government realised the situation, it placed a ban on both the trade and the use of opium in the country.
Unfortunately, this response action had come too late because the people had already become addicted to the substance. Britain saw a weakened society and in 1839 it waged war on the Chinese government, sadly, the citizens of China went to support the British to defeat and destroy China because they couldn't live without opium so they fought their own government in order that the British can supply them with opium.
-The people who exploit us to sustain their luxury living will always have a strategy to keep us in an exploitative state, their strategy may even include destroying us completely, we must think deep and ahead in order to protect our interests.

Today in Hampton History -
1966 - The U.S. 4th Circuit Court of Appeals unanimously reverses a lower court decision and orders Dixie Hospital to reinstate the employment of nurses Mildred Smith, Patricia Taylor (McKenzie), and Agnes Stokes (Chisman), and awards them full back pay.
In August 1963, the three Black nurses had decided to eat lunch in the new, spacious whites-only cafeteria of the hospital rather than in the cramped basement classroom designated for non-whites. The three women were fired on the second day of their sit-in and sued the hospital for racial discrimination.
Smith later said that, like Rosa Parks, she was tired of “taking a back seat” and wanted to mount a stand against segregation of hospital employees. Shortly after firing the three women, Dixie Hospital ended its policy of cafeteria segregation but refused to re-hire the three nurses.
In 1964, the U.S. District Court in Newport News dismissed their suit on the grounds that the Civil Rights Act of 1964 did not apply retroactively to the nurses’ protest the year before. However, the Appeals Court found that the nurses’ constitutional rights had been violated. The case was argued by lawyer William Alfred Smith of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. A separate 1960s lawsuit fought racial segregation among patients admitted to Dixie Hospital.

𝗠𝗢𝗛𝗔𝗠𝗠𝗘𝗗 𝗔𝗟𝗜 “𝗡𝗜𝗖𝗛𝗢𝗟𝗔𝗦” 𝗦𝗔𝗜𝗗 (1836-1882)
Mohammed Ali “Nicholas” Said, an enslaved African from Bornu in what is now northeastern Nigeria, traveled through Europe to the United States. He was born in Kouka, Bornu, the thirteenth of nineteen children to Barca Gana and his wife, Dalia, in 1836. His father was a distinguished general of Bornu forces, and his mother was described by him as “a beautiful but strict taskmaster.” From an early age, Said was a curious explorer, avid hunter, and quick learner.
Said grew up in a time of instability within in the Central Sudan region. As a result, he witnessed at least two massive armed invasions in his early life, one of which claimed the lives of his father and three of his brothers. Around the age of twelve, shortly after the death of his father, Said was placed under the care of Malam Katory to be taught Arabic.
Three years later during a hunting trip, the course of Said’s life changed completely when he and his friends were ambushed by a band of Kindills, a tribe known for capturing and selling people into slavery, and they were immediately enslaved. He was then sold by the Kindills for a cloak and a gun to a man that took him and about twenty others across the Sahara Desert. From there, he would be sold several times and travel to Mecca (Arabia), Medina, Istanbul (Turkey), Odessa, St. Petersburg, and finally Moscow, Russia, where he would be set free. Said was then employed by Prince Nicholas Vassilievitch Troubetzkoy, with whom he would travel extensively across Europe. He was baptized a Christian and given the name “Nicholas” in 1855. Said learned Russian, French, and English. By 1858, Troubetzkoy had brought Said to Austria, Germany, Italy, France, and England.
By the time of the American Civil War, Said had left the employment of the prince. Fate took him then to the West Indies and eventually north into Canada under new employers. Shortly thereafter, he left and began teaching at an all-black school in Detroit, Michigan. From there, he enlisted in the 55th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment in the Union Army in 1863. Said was sent with the regiment down into South Carolina just as the famed 54th Massachusetts Regiment had been a month before, and he continued to fight there until mustered out of service in 1865. During Reconstruction, Said traveled the eastern seaboard of the United States but eventually settled in the South for a time, living and teaching in South Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama.
In 1867 a first draft of Said’s memoirs appeared in Atlantic Monthly and was later published as a complete autobiography in 1873. Exactly where he spent the final years of his life and how he died is disputed. After traveling a great portion of the world and mastering nearly nine different languages, never returning to Bornu, Nicholas Said died in 1882 at the age of forty-six.

In the 80's and 90's, science meant the military-industrial complex, which was primarily supported by Republicans. Science in the 80's and 90's was the Strategic Defense Initiative, jet fighters, tomahawk and stinger missiles, nukes and "Weapons of Mass Destruction". In the 80's and 90's science was Republican territory.

The story may sound outlandish, but it was true. Taking civilians to space on the newly developed space shuttle, it was thought, was a chance to get the general public excited about space travel (and to justify NASA’s massive spending on the shuttle). In the early 1980s NASA developed the Space Flight Participation Program to do just that.
The program was designed to launch ordinary civilians into space, and included a proposal to send journalists, teachers, and celebrities along as well. Applicants included 42 network broadcasters, including major stars Walter Cronkite and Tom Brokaw. [end excerpt]

It consisted of the Morse code dots-and-dashes for three words: “MIR,” “LENIN,” and “USSR.” Mir means “peace” or “world,” the other two words need little explanation.
This cryptic transmission was beamed into the cosmos in November of 1962 from the Pluton Complex in Crimea by a planetary radar made from 16-meter-wide radio dishes mounted on a structure built out of railway bridge trusses and the hulls of a pair of repurposed Soviet submarines—a brutalist architect’s delight. The message was used to produce a radar echo from the planet Venus, but decades later scientists realized that the eventual lucky recipient of this pronouncement is a star some 2,100 light-years away, and therefore not yet aware of its role in human history.
The oddly parochial nature of this first step in extraterrestrial messaging was not without precedent, or so very different from efforts that followed it. For instance, there’s a famous but probably apocryphal anecdote about how, in 1820, the physicist Carl Fredrich Gauss proposed sending signals to other worlds by creating a vast representation of the Pythagorean theorem of right-angled triangles, carved into the Siberian tundra and outlined with pine forest. Gauss may or may not have suggested this, but having invented the heliotrope for reflecting sunlight over great distances, he did write to the German astronomer Heinrich Olbers in 1822 about building a huge heliotrope array of hundreds of mirrors to message “our neighbors on the Moon.”
In the late 1800s, the French inventor Charles Cros also thought about mirrors for signaling Mars or Venus, except his idea was to use these to focus sunlight and to burn features onto the desert zones of those worlds, possibly the most aggressive notion of extraterrestrial messaging thus far envisioned. To be fair, Cros had a special kind of creative mind, as demonstrated by his proclivity for writing poems such as The Kippered Herring, presaging the absurdist antics of Monty Python by more than a half-century. * "My Documentary Sins Of Our Mothers" (by David Hoffman, via youtube.com/watch?v=IRN91TeXAYE) [archive.ph/5XJzO]:
I have posted portions of this documentary overtime on my YouTube channel. But here is the long form film close to what ran on TV back when I first made this with Rocky Collins.  Nettie Mitchell was a spectacular person who was very careful about the details of her stories. The story has been questioned by several who think they have proven elements of it to be incorrect. My experience is that they are wrong. We spent about nine months researching the story in and around Fayette Maine. Emmeline was a real person who lived a life something like the one that he describes. She was ostracized and shunned and died of starvation. Many commentators on my channel have pointed out the Oedipus complex and its relationship to this story and others have pointed out that people who are blood relatives but who have never met can find a feeling which they can hardly describe of intimacy and closeness which is beyond our understanding. I believe that to be true. Although some of the exact dates may be wrong, Emmeline was abused in the Massachusetts mill where she worked and sent home without the child she birthed. I thank Nettie for telling me this story, author Judith Rossner for the book Emmeline which she wrote after I brought her the story and Tobias Picker who wrote an opera based on the story. I also think YouTube for allowing me to presented and as a result, to be regularly offered other stories by people who have experienced similar situations in their lives.

I have posted clips from this documentary before but have been asked so many questions about it so I decided to tell the background story. Here I post the full interview. It is a strange and sad story and my documentary details the efforts my team and I made to decide if it was true. And indeed, we found evidence sufficient to conclude that it was. Rural Maine in the 1800s was a rough place to be sure. Cold weather. Puritan people. Shunning an active part of community life. To me, local journalist Nettie Mitchell was a hero and I deeply appreciated her sharing her story with me. She had held it inside for so long. And her presentation is in my view,  beyond spectacular. Basically, it is the story of how “sin” was perceived in that society at that time.
Here is the complete story of how and why this occurred. It will help you to understand. (youtube.com/watch?v=sPW_TGp8MrE) [archive.ph/3GKms]

In a photograph taken in newly independent Ukraine during the mid-1990s, an elderly woman casts her eyes away from the camera, her mouth pursed with tension. Another woman, gray hair braided across her head, holds the subject's face firmly, one hand cupping her jaw, the other behind her neck. A white backdrop is up by someone just out of frame. A sense of unease and strangeness fills the composition.
From 1994 to 1995, only a few years after Ukraine's population voted for independence in a referendum, photographer Alexander Chekmenev took many photos like these, of people in their homes, in the eastern city of Luhansk. He had been given a peculiar and difficult task: to go door-to-door and take passport photos of the city's most vulnerable residents. [end excerpt]

Original post by Joaquin Sy from Philippine-china friendship group:
May 19 was the 80th founding anniversary of the 菲律宾华侨遊击支队,popularly known as 华支 or Wha Chi Guerillas.
Wha Chi collaborated with the Hukbong Bayan Laban sa Hapon or Hukbalahap, the armed component of the old Communist Party of the Philippines, in the anti-Japanese resistance. It was the most active among the 8 anti-Japanese guerilla groups organized by the Chinese in the Philippines.
Starting with 52 members and expanding to more than 700 towards the end of the war, Wha Chi saw action mainly in Central and Southern Luzon. It was also known as 48th Squadron, after the 新四军/New 4th Army and 八路军/8th Route Army of the People's Liberation Army of China.
---------------------
Personal story :
I had three granduncles who fought in this battalion and after the war ended in the Philippines, they returned home to China and fought in the people's liberation army against the corrupt Kuomintang and with their experience on hand in the Philippines; they were more than ready to liberate their motherland from a corrupt imperialist government.
The Kuomintang was a reason they fled here in the Philippines, being from the southern province of Fujian ; it comes as no surprise, they were very active in rebellion against the Kuomintang who took their lands from them and taxes them heavily.
They would later fight in the Korean war and that was last we heard from them.
----------
I once met an old WW2 veteran in the homes for the ages when I was on a field trip with my school and he told me a story of when he fought with the Wha chi.
He described as brave, noble and extremely fearsome in battle which then motivated many Chinese immigrants and Filipinos to fight alongside them.
His words were (translated from Filipino) "The Chinese battalion often charged first with a roar, we Filipinos looked at them in awe and we followed after them with our rifles high. The Japanese would cower when they were ambushed by these Chinese guerillas."
The Imperial Japanese army or IJA was said to have been more afraid of them than the Filipino guerillas.
Together on hand with Filipinos, the IJA was eventually pushed out of the Philippines just as Douglas MacArthur arrived in Leyte province with a pipe on his lip.
And with three words (I shall return), he took all the credit from the Wha Chi and pinoy freedom fighters.
The legacy is still felt today with our western influenced books telling children that the Americans have saved us and not one mention of gratitude was given to the Brave Filipino and Chinese fighters who gave life and limb to free the archipelago from Japanese imperial rule.
Sentiments even exist between Filipino and Chinese communities.
-----
We must always honor our ancestors and hold hands in unison.
Happy anniversary, Whachi battalion.

- [comment]: Thanks. Very interesting legend of the 3 Chinese fighters.
There is a slightly similar belief in Sabah (annexed by Malaya in 1963 with British collusion) in which Sabahans see Australia as their liberator. This is in turn nurtured by the Australians who annually hold a memorial ceremony in Sabah to remember the Australian who died with other British commonwealth soldiers in the notorious Sandakan Death March.

Sunday Morning at the Marxist Library

Sun, May 15, 2022: Open.10:30am-12:30pm PacifiC
The Class Nature of the Chinese State, with Wadi'h Halabi -
What is China today? What about the Communist Party and the unions in China? Do they represent gains or setbacks for humanity?
Wadi'h Halabi of the CPUSA and the Center for Marxist Education will be discussing these and related questions. Halabi studies the material basis for revolutionary optimism, with a focus on developing and advancing the architecture to complete humanity's transition from capitalism to socialism.
Leaders in China first invited Halabi in 2000, based on an economics column published in the People's World. Dozens of invitations followed. A proposal Halabi made to China's leaders helped reintegrate its Communist Party into Solidnet, which organizes annual meetings of the 'official' Communist parties worldwide. Another Halabi proposal led to the historic unionizing of all Walmart workers in China in 2006.
Halabi's work in China has focused on changes in the world political economy and, especially, identifying and addressing the weaknesses that led to counter-revolution in the Soviet Union and other severe defeats for humanity.
Halabi's presentation draws from class lessons of Palestine, where he was born, before being driven out in 1948, first to Gaza, then Egypt and Lebanon, all in times of war or civil war.

Aleksandr I. Solzhenitsyn's controversial new book on Soviet prison‐camps was described as “folklore” by his former wife in an interview published here today.
Natelya Reshetovskaya told the conservative newspaper Le Figaro that the book, “The Gulag Archipelago, 1918–1956,” was based on unreliable information:
She also told the newspaper's Moscow correspondent that she was still living with Mr. Soizhenitsyn when he wrote the book and that she had typed part of it. They parted in 1970 and were subsequently divorced.
She said: “The subject of ‘Gulag Archipelago,’ as I felt at the moment when he was writing it, is not in fact the life of the country and not even the life of the camps but the folklore of the camps.”

On this day, 7 May 1954, French colonial forces in Vietnam were soundly defeated by the pro-independence Viet Minh in the battle of Dien Bien Phu. The French army, receiving significant aid from the US, had occupied the town of Dien Bien Phu the previous year in an attempt to cut supply lines for the anti-colonial forces. But the Viet Minh took them by surprise, surrounding the French base with 40,000 troops (which was brilliantly located at the bottom of a valley!) and eventually overrunning it on May 7. In the wake of the shattering defeat, France was forced to surrender. The US imperialists then took up the war, committed countless crimes against the people of Viet Nam over the next 20 years, and were finally defeated on April 30, 1975. – Dougal MacDonald

On May 7, 1999, NATO deliberately bombed the Chinese embassy in former Yugoslav capital Belgrade, killing 3 Chinese journalists and injuring 20 others. The strike was carried out by US warplanes as part of a NATO operation.
In Beijing, tens of thousands of furious demonstrators pelted the American embassy with anything they could lay their hands on: stones, bricks, chunks of concrete, firecrackers. They laid siege to the building, trapping the US ambassador James Sasser inside for 4 days as he holed up with security personnel and subsisted on ready-to-eat Marine meals. Protesters also threw bricks and rocks at the British embassy.
Elsewhere in China, protesters targeted American consulates. In Chengdu, the US consul's residence was set on fire. The protests extended to cities around the world including Seoul and Berlin.
23 years on, China has transformed herself into a global technological, economic, and military powerhouse, but the humiliating memory of the bombing lives on. The bombing is vividly remembered by all the Chinese people, even though it's largely forgotten in the West.
NEVER FORGIVE, NEVER FORGET!!!

* "History of the Jews of Ukraine; Once Europe's largest Jewish community, Ukraine has had a major influence on the development of Ashkenazi Jewish culture" (myjewishlearning.com/article/history-of-the-jews-of-ukraine/) [archive.ph/SWbC5]
- [comment]: The Khazar reference should be removed from the article. Very irresponsible of them to even mention a debunked conspiracy theory.
That reference really mars what would otherwise be an excellent article.
- [response]: I didn’t really have a problem with it because it certainly didn’t claim normatively that the “theory“ is correct. It also didn’t claim that Ashkenazi Judaism writ large results from nomadic Khazars converting to Judaism in 8th century (which I understand is the real malicious conspiracy theory). That is a different question from whether or not there’s any evidence that this nomadic tribe interacted with Jews in Spain around that time and whether at least some Khazars either converted or picked up some syncretic aspects of Jewish practice. I thought this interview below does a pretty good job discussing this issue (and the person interviewed, to be clear, correctly maintains that the “Ashkenazis are just Khazars who converted” is BS. But I would not be shocked to find some evidence of some conversions or syncretism since that is not uncommon with any nomadic tribe that encounters other cultures, and certainly we know of evidence from parts of Africa that interface between Jewish traders and certain tribes resulted in some conversions and syncretism. We’ve never engage in proselytization anything to akin to the other Abrahamic religions but certainly have picked up a few converts over the centuries.
- [reply]: There is really no evidence of Jewish interaction with the Khazars or nearby peoples, on various levels. There are no linguistic traces of any languages of that region in Yiddish; there is no trace of any folk tunes from that region in Jewish music. When Jews live in a region in substantial numbers, there are always cross-cultural influences. We don't find them in this case.

Overviews of World History before the Modern Age

The other side to this was the availability of resources. Large parts of land were commonland and woodland that everyone had access to and could collect resources from/graze animals. A lot of land was communally farmed. So we had access to the natural resources and it was accepted that most of our labour was ours. We'd pay a tithe/tax but it was small.
The rich stole the land first. Enclosed it and called it their own. Forces the masses in to cities to provide the labour for industrialisation.

Recent excavations have shown Medieval ruins in the Russian republic of Tuva were monastic and reminiscent of China’s ‘Forbidden City’. [...]
Sergei Shojgu, a member of the Russian Cabinet who worked on digs in the Altai Mountains as a youth, set up the Por-Bajin Cultural Foundation in 2007 to fund the work of archaeologists studying these Medieval ruins. Professor Heinrich Härke, a specialist in early Medieval archaeology who recently took part in excavations at the site, directed by Irina Arzhantseva of the Russian Academy of Sciences, says the site had long been interpreted as a royal residence or fortress, yet it did not conform to the typical plan of such structures. [...]
It is this Chinese influence, says Heinrich, that makes sense of Por-Bajin: the layout of the site, with its echoes of the imperial ‘Forbidden City’, and the techniques used for the wall and roof construction are so reminiscent of Tang Dynasty ritual architecture of AD 618–907 that perhaps Chinese architects and builders were directly involved in the construction of this complex. Now Cornell and National Park Service researchers have pinpointed and confirmed its location by using geophysical imaging techniques and ground-penetrating radar.
The Tlingit built what they called Shiskinoow – the “sapling fort” – on a peninsula in modern-day Sitka, Alaska, where the mouth of Kasda Heen (Indian River) meets Sitka Sound at the Sitka National Historical Park. The fort was the last physical barrier to fall before Russia’s six-decade occupation of Alaska, which ended when the United States purchased Alaska in 1867 for $7 million. [...]
In 1799, Russia sent a small army to take over Alaska in order to develop the fur trade, but the Tlingit successfully expelled them in 1802. The Tlingit figured the Russians would return, so over two years they built a wooden fort – the trapezoidal-shaped Shiskinoow. The Tlingit armed it with guns, cannons and gunpowder obtained from British and American traders.
By autumn 1804, the Russians and their Aleut vassals returned. The Tlingit held them off for five days, but this time the Tlingit suffered a setback when a gunpowder supply being carried to the fort from storage across Sitka Sound blew up in a canoe. The Tlingit clans escaped Shiskinoow by night across Shee (Baranov Island) to Cháatl Ḵáa Noow (Halibut Man Fort) and the Russians then established a trading post at what is now Sitka. [end excerpt]

Thus proceeding forward the 14th day, we passed by a goodly river called Cama [=Kama], which we left on our left hand. This river falleth out of the country of Permia into the river Volga, and is from Cazan 15 leagues: and the country lying betwixt the said Cazan and the said river Cama on the left hand of the Volga is called Vachen [=Viatka?], and the inhabitants be Gentiles, and live in the wilderness without house or habitation: and the country on the other side of the Volga over against the said river Cama is called the land of Cheremizes, half Gentiles, half Tartars, and all the land on the left hand of the said Volga from the said river to Astracan, and so following the north and northeast side of the Caspian Sea, to a land of the Tartars called Turkeman, is called the country of Mangat or Nagay, whose inhabitants are of the law of Mahomet, and were all destroyed in the year 1558, at my being at Astracan, through civil wars among them, accompanied with famine, pestilence, and such plagues, in such sort that in the said year there were consumed of the people, in one sort and another, above one hundred thousand: the like plague was never seen in those parts, so that the said country of the Nagay being a country of great pasture, remaineth now unreplenished to the great contentation of the Russes, who have had cruel wars a long time together.
The Nagayans when they flourished, lived in this manner: they were divided into divers companies called Hordes, and every Horde had a ruler, whom they obeyed as their king, and was called a Murse [=Mirza]. Town or house they had none, but lived in the open fields, every Murse or king having his Hordes or people about him, with their wives, children and cattle, who having consumed the pasture in one place, removed unto another and when they remove they have houses like tents set upon wagons or carts, which are drawn from place to place with camels, & therein their wives, children, and all their riches, which is very little, is carried about, and every man hath at the least four or five wives besides concubines. Use of money they have none, but do barter their cattle for apparel and other necessaries. They delight in no art nor science, except the wars, wherein they are expert, but for the most part they be pasturing people, and have great store of cattle, which is all their riches. They eat much flesh, and especially the horse, and they drink mares milk, wherewith they be often times drunk: they are seditious and inclined to theft and murder. Corn they sow not, neither do they eat any bread, mocking the Christians for the same, and disabling our strengths, saying we live by eating the top of a weed, and drink a drink made of the same, allowing their great devouring of flesh, and drink of milk to be the increase of their strength. The nineteenth day the wind being west, and we winding east-southeast, we sailed ten leagues, and passed by a great river called Iaic [=Yaik/Ural], which hath his spring in the land of Siberia, nigh unto the aforesaid river Cama, and runneth through the land of Nagay, falling into this Mare Caspium. And up this river one days journey is a town called Serachick, subject to the aforesaid Tartar prince called Murse Smille, which is now in friendship with the Emperor of Russia. Here is no trade of merchandise used, for that the people have no use of money, and are all men of war, and pasturers of cattle, and given much to theft and murder. Thus being at an anchor against this river Iaic, and all our men being on land, saving I, who lay sore sick, and five Tartars, whereof one was reputed a holy man, because he came from Mecka [=Mecca], there came unto us a boat with thirty men well armed and appointed, who boarded us, and began to enter into our bark, and our holy Tartar called Azi, perceiving that, asked them what they would have, and withal made a prayer: with that these rovers stayed, declaring that they were gentlemen, banished from their country, and out of living, & came to see if there were any Russes or other Christians (which they call Caphars) in our bark? To whom this Azi most stoutly answered, that there were none avowing the same by great others of their law (which lightly they will not break) whom the rovers believed, and upon his words departed. And so through the fidelity of that Tartar, I with all my company and goods were saved, and our men being come on board, and the wind fair, we departed from that place, and winding east and southeast, that being the 20th of August sailed 16 leagues. 196 years ago today in 1826, a mob of 7000 starving Greeks, including 4,500 women and children, make a desperate sortie out of the besieged city of Messolonghi.
Greece and its many isles were subjugated by the Ottoman Empire for over 3 centuries prior to this event. In 1821 the Greeks had enough and a serious independence movement began to arise and threaten Ottoman hegemony. The city of Messolonghi was put under siege in 1822 but the Greek revolutionaries managed to outlast the Muslim besiegers. A second attempt to take the city occurred a year later in 1823 but was also a defeat for the Ottomans. After this 2nd siege a famous British poet, politician, and leading figure in the Romantic Movement named Lord Byron went to the city to support the Greek cause, giving it international fame and attention.
In April 1825, a force of 20,000 Ottomans arrived at Messolonghi with direct orders from their Sultan to capture the city or be executed for their failure. The Ottomans built earthworks around the city and sparred with the 9,000 Greek inhabitants for many months, but could not break through their defenses. About half way through the siege the Ottomans received a large amount of reinforcements from Egypt that would tip the scale into their favor. For almost a whole year the entire population of Messolonghi, including the women and children, worked together to defend themselves from an untold number of assaults. As time went on the Ottomans tightened their grip around Messolonghi ensuring no more supplies could reach the city, and they gave the Greeks an ultimatum. The inhabitants of the city could keep their lives if they surrendered the city and converted to islam. The Greeks rejected this offer and continued to inflict thousands of casualties on the Ottomans.
By April 1826, the inhabitants were starving as they had eaten all the dogs, cats, donkeys, horses, and seaweed that washed ashore. The leaders decided to make an attempt to break out of the city on April 22nd where all the men capable of fighting would sally out and attack the Ottomans allowing the women and children to run to safety. On the night of April 22nd the moonlight was obscured by clouds and the Greeks began to quietly sneak out of the city. About 1000 soldiers made it into position before the clouds dissipated and the moonlight provided visibility of the scene. With guns, swords, clubs, shovels, and pickaxes the inhabitants cried “FORWARD” and charged the Ottoman fortifications. The Greeks frantically threw themselves at the Ottomans trying to get over and under barricades all while sustaining a murderous gunfire. Chaos ensued during the charge when another cry of “FALL BACK” confused many of the Greeks and thousands of them ran back into the city.
With the failed sortie, the Ottomans entered the city and indiscriminately killed its inhabitants and began to loot and burn it. Many of the Greeks would commit suicide and blow themselves up with gunpowder rather than become an Ottoman prisoner. It’s estimated that less than 1,000 Greeks made it to safety with most of the population being killed and the few survivors being sold into slavery. The event is also known as the “Greek Alamo” because while the Greeks were defeated, the sacrifice of the city provided a boost to their cause for independence all throughout the world. Britain, France, and Russia would intervene in 1827 to ensure Greek freedom.

"The original document is in excellent condition," Steve says. The story begins with a letter dated January 1, 1850, written in Hangtown, California, now known as Placerville. [...]
James De Pue was at the forefront of the great California Gold Rush, but already he could see the end of the dream. "I understand that there will be great immigration next spring but I know that none will be encouraged by me as they have been by some others. If any of my friends come, I advise them to start early." He continued, "I advise them to not start with less than 3 first rate mules. I should prefer mules if I was coming again for they will endure more hardships and I did not see half as many dead mules as horses but I say stay at home." Toward the end of January, 1850, De Pue described in a letter to his wife hardships that befell miners, in addition to the weather and the work. "Last night there was one man killed and another wounded. The man that was killed was in a house about 1 1/2 miles out of town and within a few rods of Thatchers Williams cabin. He was sitting before the fire with 3 others. There was a clapboard raised up and an arrow shot. It went through the upper part of his heart which killed him instantly. Williams helped take the arrow out. The other man is able to be about. There was a man killed last Sunday, six miles out at Johnsons Rancho. I am afraid there will be trouble with the Indians this summer. The whites cannot do anything with them. It is so mountainous, they hide and shrink in the bushes. [end excerpt]

Taboo & Errony

The Three Theories:
- The Soviets proved humans cannot survive short-term exposure to the radiation prevalent outside Earth's atmospheric shield. The USA saw an opportunity to out-do the Soviets in Space, who so far was winning the Space Race!
- The USA Dept. of Defense needed a false cover to send weapons into space, heavy tungsten rods to be thrown with a force of an atomic blast upon impact, this theory states.
- The actual Moon Landing was kept under cover lest the enemy learns what exactly the USA did there, plus, the fabricated moon landing was conducted in case the astronauts died while en route.

* (comment, @Catesby, retrieved 2022-05-25, gab.com):
I suggest you do some research. Sorry you will find out you are completely wrong. There is a reason Germany and Communist Russia were allies, there is also a reason why Hitler hated Communists, and it wasn't because they were Socialists, he was too. The only retard here is you, and and an ignorant one at that.
- (reply, @givemeyour_tendies) [archive.ph/wWWoU]: Incorrect, lolbert scum, on several levels.
Socialism isn't automatically bad. Yes, the Nazis were Socialists. No, the Bolsheviks were not Socialists - they were a Jewish Ethnocracy with a large population of impoverished slaves.
Let me ask you this: Do you consider yourself to be a Nationalist? If so, what exactly do you think a Nation even is? Do you think it's lines on a map? Do you think it's your government bureaucracy? A Nation is a people, and a people is a race. When you understand this, it becomes obvious that Nationalism (a political ideology which favors the welfare of the Nation above all else), must also in fact be Socialist - or else it's not Nationalism at all.
What you perceive to be Nationalism, lolbert scum, is in fact a cartoonish flag-waving fantasy, which you learned by watching Jewish television programs.
Hitler hated Commies for the same reasons that you or I do: Communism is good for nobody except Jews (which means that it is in fact not Socialism at all).
Communism and Capitalism are in fact the "two sides of the same coin". This is apparent when you comprehend that both are political and economic vehicles which drive inherently to the same result; Jews owning everything and everyone the Jews deign to allow to live, living only as their impoverished slaves. Consequently, this is why they had no problem working together to destroy the one system which was capable of producing a fit, productive, and happy people.
Neither Communism nor Capitalism prioritize the welfare of the Nation (race), where as Fascism and National Socialism (two actually somewhat related political ideologies) in fact do.

I love it when they leave me no other choice...
This is an archive of old newspapers. The search string is "anything to do with Nazis, between 1933 and 1946". Nobody was mentioning any holocaust. The narrative today is a fiction. So says Jewish partisans from June 1942, actually. War happened. Bad things happened. But there was no "holocaust".
But do you know what is mentioned here? Thousands of Jews from Germany, Poland, and Austria being turned away from Palestine because they were unwanted.
Thousands.
Worst. Genocide. Ever.
Besides, according to official German records in 1933, there were only 700,000 Jews in Germany.
It's amazing what happens when you go back and look at the real records, and ignore Hollywood, the ADL, and all the rest of the propaganda.
https://news-navigator.labs.loc.gov/search?select_sta
I've written about it here extensively, several times. We didn't start to really see the Holocaust Incorporated™ narrative in schools until the mid 1980s. Prior to that, the whole story of WWII, including the Pacific, was taught. Now hardly any of that is taught at all, and kids are just taught to feel guilty over dead Jews that they didn't kill.
After going through almost 1600 pages of the International Committee of the Red Cross report from Sep 1 1939 - Jun 30 1947 and how they explain in great detail how they delivered aid to camps, the conditions of all camps and hurdles in getting aid to camps on both sides of the conflict.
The camps visited where PoW camps, civilian camps, prison camps, refugee camps, deportation camps etc. Not once, NOT A SINGLE TIME was there ever a mention of any camps wilfully murdering any of its inhabitants except in very rare individual cases that were reported and the perpetrator punished.
What they did mention was that as the end of the war came the German camps suffered mass starvation and sickness because of the allies bombing all infrastructure in the region.
They even mentioned how they feared for how racial minorities would be treated in liberated countries after the war, and they specifically mentioned the Aryan Germans.
Now either you believe the Red Cross had been bought and paid for by the Germans before, during and after the war and the report is a lie or what they reported was the truth. The truth being that there was no mass extermination of any kind taking place and certainly not 6 million jews.
The only mention of jews and camps is in the pictures and they paint a very different picture compared to the established narrative.
